Faces of Shift with Urban Canvas
There’s some new kids on the block. And they’re cool as can be.
Urban Canvas is an innovative troupe of creatives who specialize in design, branding, and digital advertising. They revel in unconventional wisdom and are paving a successful path through long hours, big smiles, and dynamic collaboration. Their team of 50+ freelancers allow for a wide range of creative endeavors, working on major clients like Panasonic and the Salvador Dali Museum.

Dave, tell us a little bit about Urban Canvas. What makes you different from agencies?
Urban Canvas is a collective of highly talented, visionary creatives and executional experts who imagine and craft designs rooted in powerful concepts. We create the kind of foundational ideas that transform design into more than just pretty pictures. They live, breathe and elicit action.
We create true beautility—believing that everything you see, touch, hear and interact with should not only serve a purpose but also be beautiful.
Our specialties include design, advertising and digital work.
How did this endeavor come to fruition?
I’ve always been an artist. I would draw on TV guides and school books growing up. I struggled with academics. It wasn’t until I got to college where I could use and grow my artistic skills. I quickly figured out how to apply my love of art and technology with a degree in graphic arts. After college, I worked at several advertising agencies working on large brands. About 4 years ago, I decided to start my own agency with a mission to create great designs and work with people I love. Today, my company works with great brands all across the country. We’re passionate about our work and love the people we work with.
What drew you to Shift Workspaces Bannock?
Shift instantly spoke to us because of the great atmosphere and the great people working there. We feel inspired coming into the office everyday. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We see Shift as a great place to connect with other skill professionals. Plus we couldn’t help but fall in love with the great views, free lattes, happy hours and fresh beer on tap.
What about your job inspires you?
We are inspired by great design and being able to make an impact with our work.
We are lucky to have clients that push us to do our best work. We are inspired by our clients drive and hard work to make their brands the greatest they can be.
What trips are you looking forward to this summer?
Every summer, we plan a company trip to the mountains to recharge our creativity.
And on a personal note, I’m going to Greece for my honeymoon!
