Faces of Shift with Summer Sousa
Tell us about Summer! Where did you grow up?
- I grew up in Flowery Branch, Georgia (about an hour northeast from Atlanta). All my friends & family still live there! I am the oldest sibling and have two brothers, whom I adore. I am extremely close with my family.
What was your favorite hometown attraction?
- I went to the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and Athens is my favorite city! I love all the food, events, excitement, and atmosphere. If you’re ever in town, check out my old stomping grounds, South Kitchn + Bar!
Now that you are settled in Colorado and have had time to explore, what are some of your favorite local restaurants or happenings in Denver?
- Hiking is my jam! We love trying out new trails and exploring the never-ending CO nature. We’ve been to all national parks & forests in Colorado and most in the surrounding states as well! Some of my personal favorites are Great Sand Dunes Nat’l Park, Colorado Nat’l Monument, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
What was your career prior to joining us at Shift Workspaces?
- I have worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years doing everything from serving to sales. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle, but it definitely gets tiring! There was also a blip in time where I was the Legislative Assistant for 3 State Senators in the Georgia Capitol, which was a super exciting experience!
Can you share a bit about your role as Community Manager and touch on what excites you most about working with us?
- I love being the Community Manager! I love hearing about everyone’s day and business dealings, as well as putting smiles on faces with all the exciting things we offer at Shift. I have never worked for a company that cares so much; it is truly refreshing.
How do you stay productive and motivated throughout the day?
- I stay productive by constantly moving and drinking the delicious coffee we have at Shift!
How has being part of the Shift community influenced your personal or professional growth?
- Being a part of Shift has given me profound motivation. Working everyday with such encouraging and successful members only adds to my personal drive and work ethic. I enjoy showing up to work to help others enjoy showing up to work!
Tell us about a personal passion or hobby that you enjoy outside of work.
- Outside of work I enjoy hiking, gardening, and cooking. I am working my way up to being able to hike a 14,000 ft mountain from bottom to top and have my own sourdough starter that I love baking with!
What does the ideal weekend look like for you and your husband?
- My ideal weekend is to hit a farmer’s market early for some coffee, pastries, produce, and anything else fun we can find, then head somewhere new for a hike we have never been on. After that, we enjoy cooking a nice dinner together and eating it on the patio while watching the neighborhood buzz about.
