Faces of Shift with Astorino Building Arts

Tell us, what is Astorino Building Arts? What is your primary work?

I am an architect, working on residential, and hospitality based commercial projects.

What is Scouts (Jason’s German Shepard’s pup!) position with the company?

Scout is head of security, mental security.

When did you open your business? What inspired you to do so?

I began my business as a design build for kitchens and bathrooms, before the COVID-19 pandemic, and then transitioned to traditional Architectural project development during the pandemic. I’ve always felt that Architecture allows a person to run their own business, inherently, and it just felt natural for me.

What is your biggest differentiator?

Honestly, I tend to take on projects that are too small for the big guys, and I give those projects my full dedication. I hear that my clients feel like their project is very personal, and that I take it personally as well.

What the core values of Astorino Building Arts? How do they affect how your company caters to clients?

I just strive to do good work. The construction industry is a juggernaut between City regulations, and contractors, I just want to help make those construction dreams come true. I give clients a really smooth process to get a building permit, and then help them with contractors throughout the building process.

What is your long-term company vision or goals?

I would like to build the company to a couple people and continue to take on those small personal projects. That will give me more space to look at larger design forward projects.

Are you working on any special projects right now?

I’m very lucky to be working on a Cabin in the mountains for a local architect who didn’t have time to design it himself, so it is very design forward, which is fun.

How has joining Shift Workspaces Corona contributed to your growth and success?

I’ve made some great connections at Shift. I worked with a fellow Shifter to renovate his kitchen, so that is a direct connection, and it’s just generally a comfortable work space that provides me with everything I need to get through the work day.

What do you enjoy doing outside of business?

I oil paint, and do wood working, as well as mountain biking, and snowboarding.
