6 Habits of Highly Successful People

Have you ever wondered what sets successful people apart from others? One would think they are obviously doing something right.

Some experts believe it all comes down to daily habits; successful individuals tend to be disciplined, responsible, and accountable. They figure out what works for them and they stick to it, no matter what.

1. Reading
Reading, even if just for a few minutes a day, can work wonders for people. The habit of reading has been found to help with mental stimulation, reduce stress, increase knowledge, and expand vocabulary, as well as improve memory, analytical skills, focus, and writing skills. You don’t have to read business books or nonfiction; novels work just as well.

 2. Sleep
Getting enough zzz’s on a daily basis helps individuals boost cognitive performance, reduce stress and anxiety, and improves mental the immune system. Lack of sleep means is often associated with not thinking clearly and reduces memory. Sleep, in other words, is critical to success. Adults should aim to sleep at least 6 hours a day, with 8 hours being ideal.

 3. Exercise
Exercising helps people clear their minds and provides them with an energy boost. It also helps individuals feel more motivated. You don’t need to do high intensity exercise; you can go for a walk or a jog, go biking, or swimming.

 4. Networking
Who you know can make a world of a difference. Knowing the right people can help you find new opportunities and improve your career development. As with many things in life, networking is not about quantity, but rather quality. Make sure that the people you are surrounding yourself with share your values, vision, and motivations. Pro tip: coworking spaces and their events are a great place to network.

 5. Embrace failure
We all fail at some point or another. The important thing is to make sure that you don’t let failures define you, but instead you find the will and motivation to try and try again. The vast majority of highly successful people didn’t get it right the first time, but they kept trying until they did. If you fail, begin again.

 6. Be mindful of how you spend your time
