Business Development Manager
Job Overview:
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving revenue growth, developing referral partnerships, and enhancing lead generation strategies across all Shift Workspaces locations. This dynamic position focuses primarily on outbound lead generation and forming strategic relationships with key professionals. Working closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing, the Business Development Manager will work to increase and maintain private office occupancy, manage a consistent sales pipeline for all Shift locations and work alongside the onsite sales team to push revenue for all membership types. Success will be measured by meeting revenue targets, pipeline growth, outreach targets and occupancy gains, while fostering strong community involvement and business partnerships. The ideal candidate has a sales-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with strong relationship management skills, strategic execution abilities, and a passion for community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Outbound Lead Generation
- Proactively generate new leads through outbound strategies, including cold calling, targeted outreach, and community engagement.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to meet monthly revenue and occupancy targets.
- Maintain detailed records of all lead activities in Salesforce, ensuring data is current and deals are tracked accurately.
- Ensure consistent deal flow by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities across all revenue categories.
- Involvement in the entire outbound sales process from lead qualification to closing, including tours, follow up and contract negotiation.
- Collaborate with onsite teams to deliver a smooth onboarding transition for new members.
- Develop strategies to grow key revenue streams, including coworking memberships, conference rooms, virtual offices, and event spaces.
- Serve as the “Face of Shift” by representing the brand at community events, networking functions, and partner meetings.
- Monitor market trends and lead conversion metrics to optimize outreach efforts.
Business Development Program Management
- Develop and execute strategic plans to expand business development initiatives across all membership types and identify new sales opportunities.
- Manage the day-to-day tasks of business development associates, providing sales training, direction, coaching, and oversight.
- Lead the Shift Ambassador Program, ensuring program goals are met of building and maintaining strategic relationships with local businesses, brokers, chambers of commerce, and neighborhood associations to drive brand awareness and referrals.
- Direct the planning and execution of monthly Ambassador events, networking dinners, outings, and custom campaigns.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of Ambassador-focused content, including newsletters and digital campaigns, to foster engagement and exclusivity.
- Manage referral tracking, reward delivery, and recognition initiatives, ensuring all outreach and gifting aligns with Shift’s brand.
- Post regularly on social platforms to highlight Ambassador partnerships, member success stories, and ongoing sales initiatives.
Additional Inbound Sales & Marketing Duties from November 15, 2025 – March 15, 2026 (covering for an employee on FAMLI leave)
- Manage the sales process for private office inquiries received from inbound leads.
- Lead private office renewal discussions with existing members, offering tailored solutions to encourage retention and expansion.
- Assist with in-house marketing activities to optimize brand visibility and engagement across all Shift membership types.
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of a track record of success in business development, sales, and outbound lead generation, ideally within the real estate or coworking industries
- Sales management experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficiency with using CRM tools
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and a passion for community engagement
- Active participation in community organizations and the ability to represent Shift Workspaces at local events and boards

PAY RANGE: $75,000-$80,000 base salary + commissions
Commissions: Commissions are earned on all Shift membership types as a percentage of the total deal value from new clients generated through outbound sales initiatives. Commissions are shared amongst the team to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. Commissions are calculated monthly, paid quarterly, and eligibility depends on accurate deal entry, receipt of initial payment, and continued employment through the payout date. Commissions for this role are estimated to be up to $35,000 per year.
Additional Commissions: Additional commissions will be eligible to be earned during the Inbound Sales and Marketing coverage time. Commissions are earned on all new private office memberships generated from inbound sales initiatives and current member retention. These commissions are estimated to be up to $5,000 during the coverage period.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting, standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., some nights and weekends may be required. Travel to the three Shift locations in addition to community events is required.
