How to Become the Best Version of Yourself

Becoming the best version of yourself is one of the most satisfying lifelong journeys you can commit to. But it can also be a very difficult path if you let yourself be distracted from it. As you improve some areas of your life, you will inevitably be tempted to compare your progress with others. 

Social media has made it almost impossible to stop comparing yourself to others. And with hyper curated feeds, filters, and photoshop as the norm, it is hard to distinguish what is real and what isn’t. This makes comparing your life with that of others even more depressing, since everybody seems to have the best bodies, cars, houses, partners, kids, etc. 

So, the first key step towards becoming the best you, is to stop comparing yourself to others and focus only on your own progress. Once you are able to focus solely on yourself you can determine what needs to change. 

Find out what you love most

Self-improvement is a matter of deeply connecting with yourself and being honest about what interests you, motivates you and which areas you want to improve on. The important thing is that you are completely honest with yourself and that you are willing to go deep on the things that matter to you. 

The idea is to know where you are in order to be able to determine where you want to go. If you do not examine yourself, how will you know what needs to be better?

Search for perfection in the simple things

Instead of trying to do everything all at once, aim to do less things but try to do them as perfectly as possible. Remember that being better means doing things in a better way, and multitasking makes it very hard for anybody to actually achieve that. 

Focus on your strengths

Nurturing your strengths provides you with better tools to tackle other areas of your life that need improvement. So, for example if you find that you are a good listener you can find ways to improve that skill and use it to become a better negotiator, a better partner, a better mentor, or a better friend. Use the strengths you already have as solid foundations on which to build your better self upon. 

Create a nurturing environment

Even if you have the best intentions and attitude, in order to become a better version of yourself you need the right environment. A great idea is to surround yourself with good people, read about others you admire, follow some positive role models on social media and while you are at it you might want to curate your feed to include only content that lifts you up and inspires you to be better. Within a nurturing environment it is more likely that you will bring about the changes you need, and that they will become ingrained in your life. 

These are just a few tips to help you on your self-improvement quest. Remember to be patient with yourself and to love yourself unconditionally through the whole journey and you will become the best version of yourself.
