Alice Cuthbert, General Manager
1. Welcome to the Shift team, Alice! What are you most excited about for your career at Shift Workspaces?
Thank you! I am excited to learn about the Real Estate Industry and to get to know our members. It’s fun to have so many people with varying background under one roof!
2. Tell us about where you lived prior to moving to Colorado this year?
I grew up in Rochester, NY and after graduating college, I wanted to experience life in a big city. I’ve lived in Boston, New York City, and most recently San Francisco. I had a lot of fun in each city exploring different restaurants and going to live music shows.
3. What line of work were you in before joining us as a General Manager?
I’ve been in the hospitality industry for my whole career, starting at the front desk of the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, then moving to NYC to open a luxury hotel on the upper east side. Following a long-time dream of mine, I moved to California in 2016 and worked for two non-profits, my favorite being the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco. It is a living plant museum of rare tropical plants; one is a philodendron plant named Phil who is rumored to be over 100 years old.
4. What does your ideal weekend look like?
My ideal weekend has a balanced mix of activity and rest. Depending on how active my week was, I’ll either be hiking and exercising or off grid at my family’s cabin in the mountains. On Sunday nights, I’m at my brother’s house making dinner and chasing after my 2-year-old nephew.
5. Tell us about what it is like to be a yoga instructor here in Denver! What is your favorite thing about being a part of that community?
Throughout the years, yoga has become an integral part of grounding myself. I have found a home within my practice, allowing me to connect my mind and body no matter where life takes me. I enjoy empowering others to connect with themselves!
6. As you begin your career in the coworking industry, what is something you hope to achieve?
I hope to build upon the already existing community in a way that continues to bring people together.
7. What have you learned about the Shift Workspaces community?
Everyone I’ve met has been so kind and genuine, I’m happy to be a part of this community.
